I’ve been a professional musician since the late ‘70s. After working in bands and duos, especially over the last several years with my wife/musical partner Brenda Liddiard (aka Millennium Hippies), I’ve felt a strong urge to return to my first love – solo. I play guitar and vocal, and sometimes harmonica, ukulele and rowan lute (a little instrument specially built for me). I write all my own material, but have a fair list of covers too. Formative influences included The Beatles, Dylan, Led Zeppelin, Rory Gallagher, Larry Norman, Sting & Peter Gabriel amongst many others. More recent favourites include Gillian Welch & Leonard Cohen. I play an acoustic/electric crossover style (mostly on an old Gibson J45) doing acoustic rock, blues, reggae, a tad of alt-country, folk, vaguelly jazzy soul and post-millennial gospel. I’ve recorded quite a lot of albums over the years, and worked as producer/session musician on many projects. I’m also a writer - I’ve published 3 collections of poetry, a children’s storybook, & a book of modern psalms. I’ve written articles & reviews for faith & arts magazines. Sometimes I’ll sprinkle poetry readings into a set.
